Anton De Pasquale/Shamick Racing/Mygale scored pole position and won the first two races of the weekend in dominant fashion before fighting his way to the front in the finale’, ultimately sweeping the weekend and clinching not just the round but the championship in style.
De Pasquale also set a new Phillip Island lap record for Formula Fords in race two, setting the new benchmark at 1m35.8901s.
A solid weekend from CAMS Rising Star / Minda Motorsport driver Liam Sager elevated him to second in the championship (second in race 1), as teammate Macauley Jones endured a second consecutive rough weekend: qualified fifth and finished third in race one, however an incident at turn four ended his second race and effectively ended his championship hopes.
In fact the Phillip Island round was full of starring performances from young drivers, Hamish Hardeman, Tom Randle/Evans Motorspor, Simon Hodge and Luke Marquis for Sonic as regular top six runners all weekend.
We find 7 Mygale’s drivers in the provisional top 10 of the Championship.
The final round of the 2013 Australian Formula Ford Championship will be held at the Sydney 500 on December 6-8.
