In 1989, 24 years old and with a degree of ESTACA -aerodynamics engineer- , Bertrand DECOSTER, current Chairman and Managing Director of the MYGALE group, took a risky gamble - he decided to make the first French Formula Ford.
MYGALE had its first victory in 93 at Nogaro (Bertrand GODIN - Mygale Competition), but it was in 95 that it really came to the fore by winning both the French and the European Formula Ford Championship (Patrice GAY - Graff Racing).
These victories were possible thanks to drivers such as Soheil AYARI and Bertrand GODIN, who were trained at the MYGALE driving school, established in 1991. Located on the prestigious Montlhéry circuit, Formula Mygale Loisir welcomes nearly 7000 thrill-seekers a year.
1998 was an extremely successful year, MYGALE won the World Championship and the British Championship hands down, with future Formula 1 driver Jenson Button from the Haywood Racing Team.
In 2000, MYGALE signed two new single seater contracts, one of which was for Portugal, with Formula Novis, and the other on behalf of Renault Sport with Formula Renault Campus. The company moved from the Allier to the Nièvre, to the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit, into an ultra-modern building which today houses 42 permanent employees and about twenty temporary workers. More than 90 cars were made that year, and marketed in four continents.
In 2001, BMW entrusted us with manufacturing the Formula BMW ADAC single seater, which made its appearance on German circuits at the beginning of 2002. Mygale is now producing cars for four Formula BMW championships, in Germany, Asia, UK and the United States.
By 2004, MYGALE had manufactured over 400 cars anf had more than 300 victories, including 3 Formula Ford World Championships. Also, Mygale has celebrated its 15 year with personalities of motorsport, friends and employees.
In 2005, MYGALE won the Formula Ford Festival with an historic 1-2-3 and became the Formula Ford World Champion for the fourth time.
In 2006, MYGALE launchs is Formula 3 M-06 on tracks. Mygale also got the market of the Peugeot Spider car.
In 2007, MYGALE created Mygale Inc, its subsidiary in the USA. Mygale also sold its driving school, so as to concentrate better on its main goal: design and manufacturing.
In 2008, MYGALE launched its new Formula 3, the M-08. This new car has exceptional aerodynamical performances, which enabled Mygale to participate again in the 2008 Formula 3 British Championship.
In 2009, MYGALE opens the doors of its new factory with an area of 2500 m2. Equipped with the lastest technology, it offers a production equipment of point and obtains the renewal of the ISO 9001 versus 2008.
In 2010 MYGALE continues to climb in Formula 3. After 14 podiums and 5 victories in 2009, the French manufacturer is proud to post 11 cars on the starting grid of the Italian Championship 2010.
In 2011 MYGALE draws and products the new Formula Ford EcoBoost for the British Championship. We also contribute to manufacture the Noao, this hybrid demonstrator equipped with an electric drive chain.
In 2012 MYGALE signs a very important partnership with the prestigious Indy Light Team Bryan Herta Autosport to create Mygale North America. Mygale wins the Italian Formula 3 Championship with Agostini and JD Motorsport Team.
In 2013, Mygale enters the Endurance cars market with the construction of the new LAMERA Cup car. It's alos the beginning of the Formlua Ford with front and rear wings: Formule Ford EcoBoost 200.
